The Capuchin

Our history

The story of Capuchin began in 1997. It was in Plessisville, on St-Louis Street, that the first clinic opened. In 1999, the second Capuchin was born when it opened its doors in Victoriaville on Boulevard Bois Francs. Moreover, this is where we still have a storefront.

At the time, only two employees worked for the company The Capuchin . Our only sources of income were naturopathic consultations and the sale of natural products. In the evening, we closed our cash register by writing in a small notebook that 3 customers had come. We also noted the temperature outside… We were happy with our first steps!

In January 2000, Marilène , owner and naturopath for the shops The Capuchin learned that she had congenital cardiomyopathy. She needed emergency open-heart surgery. In September 2000, a heartbreaking choice was made: the Plessisville clinic had to close. It was necessary to concentrate energies and keep only the Victoriaville clinic.

Five years later, the company The Capuchin was awarded the Young Company prize at the Hall of Fame of the Bois-Francs and Maple Chamber of Commerce. An honor that allows the company to stand out in the region. Since then, more and more health professionals refer their patients to the Capucin.

In 2006, Health Canada made a major tour of health food stores and demanded that all children's products sold in tablets be now approved by the government. Being a young entrepreneur, Marilène did not have the financial situation that allowed her to move forward in the face of this great challenge, but nevertheless dared to take the steps.

She met with a logistics and regulatory affairs advisor (DPSNSO) and decided to go ahead despite the lack of financial resources. 2 years later, all the certifications were received on the 10 most popular homeopathic formulas and it was not without pride. Having a DIN-HM means that our product has been studied and accepted by Health Canada.
